Controversial Bulimia Campaign Launched On Toilet Seats

The German advertising firm Red Cell has created a sticker to be placed on toilet seats which aims to highlight awareness of bulimia treatment.

The sticker reads “Bulimie ist heilbar” (”Bulimia is curable”), and includes contact information for the ProMädchen (”ProGirl”) organization.

We think this clever but non-patronising approach is a step in the right direction for those suffering from the eating disorder.

Raf Simons Gets In On The Leonard Cohen Love

On Christmas Day in the UK, the number one and two tracks on the singles chart were both covers of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ classic.

Now, either Raf Simons has a remarkably prescient knack for spotting a trend, or this is just a coincidence - but he’s designed a Leonard Cohen beach towel which pays tribute to Cohen’s ‘Anthem’. And just how brilliant is the lyric Simons has quoted?

We want one, please. Immediately.

Hawaiian Shirt Creator Dies

Alfred Shaheen, the pioneering textile manufacturer and creator of the Hawaiian shirt, has died aged 86 reports Huffington Post.

Among those seen wearing Shaheen’s designs in the 1950s was Elvis Presley, who was pictured in one on the cover of his 1961 soundtrack album “Blue Hawaii.”

Shaheen originals now fetch upwards of $1,000, so raid your granddad’s wardrobe and get eBaying!

Ann Coulter Disses Michelle Obama’s Look

America’s ‘favourite’ right-wing mouthpiece Ann Coulter is quoted by NY’s Daily News as saying the following:

“(Michelle’s) obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.”

Ouch! Last November we reported on how Germaine Greer also attacked Michelle. Jealous much, ladies?

Michelle rocks!

Courtney Love’s Karma Tips

Courtney Love in Elle January 2009

“On Sofia Coppola’s 16th birthday I stole a lip gloss from her Sistine Chapel of a bedroom. Years later, I left a Chanel lip gloss in the reception of the Mercer hotel for her. You know why? I believe that you’ve got to fix your karma.”

And there you have it, ladies.

Latest On Men’s Vogue

Contrary to fresh rumours that Men’s Vogue is to close - following last year’s announcement that it is downsizing to just two issues a year - a Conde Nast rep has announced:

“There is no change to our plans from what we said at the end of last year. We will put out two Men’s Vogue in ‘09.”

However, these will only be available as giveaways packaged with the regular Vogue.

Dr Who Could Get Even More Fashionable

Following on from today’s earlier reports suggesting that the producers of Dr. Who would like to see Lily Allen at the next round of auditions, it’s worth pointing out that Agyness Deyn could also be a “possible choice”.

Well, she has been doing the odd bit of acting here and there - so let’s not rule anything out.  Oh and another thing, wouldn’t that make this like the most fashionable Dr Who ever?

Go Agy Go!

Claudia To Launch Her Own Beauty Range

Claudia Schiffer

The Daily Mail have revealed that supermodel Claudia Schiffer is about to take on a whole new project by launching her own range of beauty products next summer (as if she’s not busy enough being the face of Chanel’s autumn/winter fashion collection).

Not giving too much away she said, ‘I have got something planned but can’t really go into too much detail.’

Well if they can make us look like her, then we’ll buy the lot.

Cheryl Cole: Vogue

What more can we say?  The girl’s done good (damn good!).

PS.  Re: Simon…In her interview she adds, “I’m not sure about the way he dresses. The trouser waistbands may have gone down, but what is it about those nightie shirts he wears? It’s like I really need to take him clothes shopping or something. The Makeover of Simon Cowell by Cheryl Cole - now there’s an idea for a show!”   Ooooo, we love it!

The Latest From GOOP!

We are loving your look right now Gwyneth - but we are so not sure about the diet.

In her latest GOOP newsletter (yes that really is what her website’s called), Gwynny makes us all feel better by admitting, “I need to lose a few pounds of holiday excess. Anyone else? I like to do fasts and detoxes a couple of times during the year, the most hardcore one being the Master Cleanse I did last spring. It was not what you would characterize as pretty. Or easy.”  (or fun perhaps?)

“As I do not wish to subsist on lemon water in the middle of winter, I asked my doctor, a detox diet specialist, for the guidelines he uses to achieve a good detox that is not as hallucinogenic (in a bad way) as the Master Cleanse. What it came down to was this: you can detox easily and effectively while you continue to eat as long as you are cutting out the foods and other substances that interfere with the detoxification process.”

Basically don’t eat anything you like and you’re done (oh and whack a pair of pink tights on for added effect while you’re at it).  More hot water over here please!
