Vivienne Westwood For Sex And The City Sequel?

Vivienne Westwood

We’re not sure what to make of this - a source has told The Independent that Dame Vivienne Westwood wants SATC producers to use her idea for a plotline in the forthcoming SATC sequel.

Apparently the designer “has been obsessed with the film ever since she saw it. She has even put in calls to Sarah Jessica Parker about it.”

Well if that’s the case, why did Dame Viv say this last year?

“I thought Sex And The City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw.

“I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes.”

It would seem the source is correct though, as a rep for Westwood has confirmed that SATC’s producers are yet to take her up on the offer.

He said: “We haven’t had any news about it yet. So we don’t know what’s happening.”

Hmmm, curioser and curioser…

Controversial Bulimia Campaign Launched On Toilet Seats

The German advertising firm Red Cell has created a sticker to be placed on toilet seats which aims to highlight awareness of bulimia treatment.

The sticker reads “Bulimie ist heilbar” (”Bulimia is curable”), and includes contact information for the ProMädchen (”ProGirl”) organization.

We think this clever but non-patronising approach is a step in the right direction for those suffering from the eating disorder.

Raf Simons Gets In On The Leonard Cohen Love

On Christmas Day in the UK, the number one and two tracks on the singles chart were both covers of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ classic.

Now, either Raf Simons has a remarkably prescient knack for spotting a trend, or this is just a coincidence - but he’s designed a Leonard Cohen beach towel which pays tribute to Cohen’s ‘Anthem’. And just how brilliant is the lyric Simons has quoted?

We want one, please. Immediately.

Is Donna Karen Wooing Madonna’s A-Rod?

Sources have revealed to the NY Post that Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez was spotted getting up close and personal with designer Donna Karen during the Parrot Cay New Year celebrations.

Other celebs in attendance included Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis - but no Madonna.

If this is true then Karen and Rodriguez are either very brave or very, very stupid…

Gwyneth Explains ‘GOOP’

Just a little catch-up if you need it - the charmingly named GOOP is Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website (as previously discussed on Stylish News). Its motto? Nourish The Inner Aspect.

Quite why the Oscar-winning actress felt the need to start such a site as been the question on many a pair of lips - and here’s her answer:

“I have this incredible, blessed, sometimes difficult, very lucky, very unique life, and I’ve gotten to travel all over the place and to work and live in different cities. … I go on tour with my husband and go to cities I would never necessarily go to. So I started accruing all of this information. I am the person my friends call when they want to know: “I am redoing this bathroom, and I want a sink that looks mid-century, but a contemporary version of a mid-century. Where should I go?” or “How do I make your (recipes)?” … I thought this would be a fun, creative way to share with friends.”

Do you know where we’d recommend getting a contemporary mid-century sink?

Ikea.

Ann Coulter Disses Michelle Obama’s Look

America’s ‘favourite’ right-wing mouthpiece Ann Coulter is quoted by NY’s Daily News as saying the following:

“(Michelle’s) obvious imitation of Jackie O’s style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint.”

Ouch! Last November we reported on how Germaine Greer also attacked Michelle. Jealous much, ladies?

Michelle rocks!

Courtney Love’s Karma Tips

Courtney Love in Elle January 2009

“On Sofia Coppola’s 16th birthday I stole a lip gloss from her Sistine Chapel of a bedroom. Years later, I left a Chanel lip gloss in the reception of the Mercer hotel for her. You know why? I believe that you’ve got to fix your karma.”

And there you have it, ladies.

Cheryl Cole Bashes Posh, Chung AND Peaches In Vogue

Now this is more like it!

In her new Vogue interview, cover-star Cheryl Cole resolutely fails to mince her words when discussing her celeb peers.

For example, when asked about Victoria Beckham - who many assumed was a good friend of Cheryl’s - our Chezza replied:

“She was in my hotel room during the World Cup - we’ve had barbecues together - so I was quite shocked (that she didn’t call when Cheryl’s husband Ashley was accused of infidelity). I mean, David’s mum is friends with Ashley’s mum.”

She also states that Peaches Geldof is “totally up herself”, while Alexa Chung gets it in the neck for “acting all superior”.

You can take the girl out of Newcastle…

Christina Aguilera is NOT designing for Topshop

Yes we know the world and his wife have got a Topshop line these days, but pesky internet rumours about Christina Aguilera jumping aboard Sir Philip Green’s bandwagon (ooh-er missus) are just that: rumours.

Elle UK elaborates:

‘Our friends at Topshop have confirmed to us that it’s not happening. This year Topshop are focusing on the best in British design talent, which at the moment leaves little room for anything else.’

Bad luck, Aggy. Maybe next year?
